Day 1: We travel west today enroute to Dearborn, MI and the Hampton Inn for our first night's lodging. Dinner is included tonight. (D)
Day 2: Following breakfast, we tour the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village, depicting the sweeping changes that transformed America into a dynamic industrial society. We continue to the charming town of Frankenmuth, where we allow free time to explore the town and its famous Christmas shops. We continue to Mackinac Island aboard the ferry and the luxurious Island House for two memorable nights. Enjoy a delicious dinner and some free time to stroll along the enchanting village streets. Day 3: We've included breakfast and a captivating guided tour of the island in a horse-drawn carriage. The magic continues as we enjoy the famous buffet lunch at the Grand Hotel. The bountiful buffet extends over 100 feet in length! Your afternoon is free to explore the shops and relax on the Island House porch with your favorite cocktail before dinner. (B, L, D)
Day 4: After breakfast, we bid good-bye to Mackinac, leave the ferry and board our motorcoach to travel to Sault Ste. Marie. Later, we embark on a ferry to St. Ignace, gateway to the Upper Peninsula and the Soo Locks. Reservations have been made for you to take a two-hour narrated tour through the world-famous Soo Locks, an experience you'll always remember. Our host for two nights is the Holiday Inn Sault Ste. Marie. (B)
Day 5: We're off on a scenic experience as we board the Agawa Canyon Train for a ride through the vast expanse of forest and mountains. As the train winds its way through Agawa Canyon, you will view beautiful scenery. Breakfast and lunch are included today. (B, L)
Day 6: We journey to Toronto, arriving in time for you to enjoy the harborfront area before checking into the Marriott Toronto and having dinner on your own.
Day 7: We tour Toronto this morning and learn about this beautiful city. Free time will be given in Toronto before we continue to Niagara Falls, our home for the evening. Day 8: We view the awesome beauty of the Falls atop Minolta Tower, where we also enjoy a full Canadian breakfast. We return home from our wonderful excursion to Michigan and Canada around 9:00 P.M. Day 1: Escape to the cooler Green Mountains of Vermont and experience Vermont's finest country inns. We travel to Warren and the Sugar Lodge. Tonight experience the local cuisine at a popular area restaurant. (D)
Day 2: Following breakfast, we tour Ben and Jerry's factory and learn how two high school friends became entrepreneurs in the ice cream industry. Next, we enjoy lunch and shopping at Historic Church Street Market Place before we visit Shelburne Farms. This nationally acclaimed 1,400-acre historic site has some of the most spectacular lake and mountain scenery anywhere. The guided tour features 19th century buildings and the farm's magnificent agricultural landscape. Late afternoon we check into the historic Brandon Inn in Brandon, VT, where we enjoy a welcome reception followed by dinner. This inn was established in 1786 and is listed on the National Historic Register. (B, D)
Day 3: After a full country breakfast, we depart for a day of even more spectacular touring, traveling on totally different back roads. First we enjoy a cruise on beautiful Lake Champlain. Then, we visit the wonderful small city of Rutland, whose historical buildings and small boutiques are intertwined with today's "chain stores," where lunch is on your own. Next, the Vermont Marble Museum, the world's largest, invites us to learn about the stone that helped determine Vermont's history. At Mendon Mt. Orchard, we'll learn how a family produces its famous pies, cider and other apple products. Taste testing is mandatory! Time is allowed for the Rocking Horse Country Store, which is filled with a large variety of Vermont-made crafts. We then check into our accommodations in Killington, VT, where we enjoy a deluxe dinner. (B, D)
Day 4: After a deluxe breakfast at the Inn, we depart for a final day of touring which includes Quechee Gorge, Vermont's Little Grand Canyon, and Sugarbush Farms, where the Luce family invites us to visit their home, farmed by generations of their family. The drive to and from the farm on "true Vermont back roads" is worth the visit itself. Marsh-Billings Rockefeller National Historic Park gives us a guided tour of the Rockefeller "cottage" and Woodstock, VT-"one of the ten most beautiful villages in North America" is the perfect spot for lunch. The afternoon is free to relax at the inn before heading out for dinner at another lovely Vermont country inn. (B, D)
Day 5: After a full gourmet country breakfast, we depart for home. We make a stop at Yankee Candle Company in South Deerfield, MA, for a little browsing. With many fond memories of the attractions we experienced, we arrive early evening. (B)
